McBain - aka Mutty Magoo, McBoul, McDork, McBrain, McBainerberry, Old Man, Greybeard, Greystache, bones, boner

McBain is the sweetest dog in the whole world!  Once you get past his smile (which looks a bit scary) you can't help but love him.  McBain is turning 5 this year and he's been going grey since he was 2.  It stared on his upper lip which gave him the nickname "greystache" and now his whole muzzel is turning grey as well as inside his ears and legs - now we call him "old man."  McBain also acts like an old man - he's always seemed like an old soul.  He was a very calm puppy and incredibly easy to train right from the beginning.  Now he's practically comatose unless you have his ball LOL.

When my alarm goes off in the morning Loki leaps out of bed, tail wagging with his "let's go" attitude.  McBain stays in bed until one of two things happens:  1.  I go upstairs and tell him he's lazy and make him get up to go outside or 2. he hears the food dishes and comes running.  McBain loves to sleep and eat.  Oh and he loves to play fetch more than anything in the whole world!

I love McBain, he's my friend and protector.  He seems to know how I'm feeling and always responds appropriately to my emotions.   If i'm upset he's right there with his head on my lap, if I'm angry he keeps his distance, if I'm happy he'll stand to his full height of about 6 feet and give me a hug (thanks to my sister in law teaching him to jump up on her when he was a puppy).  He's just the best dog in the world.

If for any reason McBain couldn't be our dog anymore there is a line-up of people who want him.  I was once offerred a million dollars for him - no way he's priceless.

We brought McBain home when he was 11 weeks old from a place called Adopt A Pet in Calgary.  He'd been alone under glass in a cage for a couple of weeks and he was so happy for any attention from people. We think that he is a Golden Retriever lab cross, but I guess we'll never know.  Whatever he is - we love him - and he has sparked what I'm sure will be a life long love of dogs in our family.

Mcbain at the park - probably wondering where his ball is :)

McBain ALWAYS gets the ball!  I have to make him sit and stay to let Loki get his turn.  This picture was taken at Bigelow dam where our NAVHDA chapter trains.  Loki and my sisters dog Tipper are learning to do water retrieves from a pro!
