Sentryfier Vizslas

About Me

My name is Lori and I live in Calgary Alberta.  I have just finished my MSc. in Plant Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Calgary and work as a research technician studying limb development in mammals.  I live on the West edge of Calgary with my husband Ben and our three dogs and a cat.

We got our first dog McBain after we got married and moved into our first home, a condo in SW Calgary.  I did some manners type obedience with him and lost of playing fetch at the dog park, he also became my running partner once he was old enough.  When McBain was approaching 2 years old I decided it would be nice to get him a friend.  By then we'd moved into a house with a big backyard that was near an offleash park with a great place for the dogs to swim.  That's when I started researching breeds and narrowed it down to Vizsla, Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever or German Shorthaired Pointer.  We decided a Toller had too much hair, and amazingly (to me) we found a Vizsla breeder that was planning a litter in a few months.  The rest is history!

With Loki I dove into every aspect of owning a purebred hunting dog.  We do obedience, show, field tests/trials and even some agilty.  And of course I get cuddles everyday.  I love him to peices and can't imagine owning another breed.  This spring we got another Vizsla, a little girl pup from Colorado that we have named Vega.  She is a wonderful happy spirited puppy who's tail never stops wagging, except when she's on point!
